Updated Data - Active Lives Survey
Sport England Active Lives Survey for adults has been updated in LG Inform. The most recent data shows for 2024 (Nov 2023-Nov 2024) the percentage of adults who are active (150+ minutes a week) in England was 63.7 per cent, up from 63.4 per cent the previous year.
The area with the highest rate of active adults was Brighton and Hove at 77.8 per cent and the lowest rate was Blackpool at 46.5 per cent. The survey shows in England, 16.1 per cent are inactive (No activity), down from 16.4 per cent in 2023. West Midlands is the region that had the highest rate at 19.5 per cent and the South East the lowest at 12.9 per cent.

We have added loneliness metrics from this survey into LG Inform. In England, for 2024 the percentage of adults who feel lonely often / always (aged 16+) was 7.0 per cent and 18.1 per cent feel lonely some of the time.
A further breakdown is also available for adults who feel lonely often / always: it was 8.8 per cent aged 16-54, 4.3 per cent aged 55+, 6.1 per cent male adults and 7.8 per cent female adults.
The breakdown of adults who feel lonely some of the time was 21.1 per cent aged 16-54, 13.5 per cent aged 55+,15.5 per cent male adults and 20.5 per cent female adults.
